Planning Your Retreat
"Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while"
(Mk. 6:31).
"Reflect that the most delicate flower loses its fragrance and withers fastest; therefore guard yourself against seeking to walk in a spirit of delight, for you will not be constant. Choose rather for yourself a robust spirit, detached from everything, and you will discover abundant peace and sweetness, for delicious and durable fruit is gathered in a cold and dry climate." (St. John of the Corss: Maxims).
A solitary retreat is a challenging experience, like going into the desert, but with relief from daily routine and pressures it fosters intensity of life. It sets an excellent context for the learning of that self-discipline necessary for the fulfillment of the desire of every truly Christian heart--deeper union with God.
Solitude is not a luxury, but a near necessity for every Christian from time to time, in order to evaluate our commitment to God, deepen our relationship with Him, and find wisdom and strength for gospel living.
"...sounding solitude, the supper that refreshes, and deepens love." (St. John of the Cross: The Spiritual Canticle v. 14).
On our wooded retreat grounds, there is a separate hermitage for each retreatant, complete with linens, shower, toilet, heat and air conditioning. There are ample areas for walking, praying and reading. All three meals are provided and taken privately. Retreatants are invited to share in the daily Celebration fo the Eucharist and Liturgy of the Hours with the Religious Community.
1. Spiritual Direction/Confessions as often as desired, given by any of our priests.
2. Our monastic library with an excellent selection of spiritual reading books, and tapes.
3. Daily Mass (Eucharistic Celebration) with a motivating homily.
4. Our Community prays for you while you are on retreat
5. Meditation decks for your meditation and prayer.
